We allow up to 500 emails to be sent out per hour on our shared and reseller servers. This will not be changed under any circumstance. By default there is a 1000 email per hour limit on our VPS, Hybrid and Dedicated Servers however this can be changed in your WHM. Just log in to your WHM and goto Tweak Settings there you will find mail option in that option "THE MAXIMUM EACH DOMAIN CAN SEND OUT PER HOUR (0 IS UNLIMITED):" In that you can set that how many mail can be sent by each domain...
We utilize outgoing spam filtering to ensure that our primary IP does not get blacklisted, however in the event that our IP does get blacklisted we can change the mail server IP however having a dedicated IP does not help with emails being blacklisted. Email always uses the shared ip, even if you buy a dedicated IP. The only way to get a dedicated IP for emails is to buy a Dedicated server, Hybrid or VPS.
NOTE: We can only fix this if the block is against the entire server. If the block is specifically against your email address, then the receiver is blocking your emails purposefully and we cannot remove the block. If you get a bounce back error that you cannot figure out, please visit this link so that you can enable the full headers of the email. (Full headers are required so that we can solve your problem.) http://www.haltabuse.org/help/headers [1] Once the headers have been exposed, pleas...
EMAIL SETTINGS FOR AN EMAIL CLIENT (OUTLOOK, EUDORA, MAC MAIL ETC.): Incoming mail server: mail.yourdomain.com Outgoing mail server: mail.yourdomain.com Outgoing mail server does require authentication. Incoming mail port: 110 for POP3, 143 for IMAP Outgoing mail port: 25 (If 25 does not work, try 26, as some ISPs block port 25) Username is the same one as you use for webmail (the full email address). (If entering "username@yourdomainname" does not work, try "username+yourdomain...
Although most email settings are identical, the iPhone requires a special setting for the incoming and outgoing mail servers. Instead of using the defaults that are typically used in the email settings replace mail.yourdomain.com with yourservername.pacifichost.com If you aren't sure of the name of your server you can usually find it in the Stats on the left hand side of your cPanel. If you don't see it right offhand you can also try pressing CTRL+F and typing in "server name" and pressing...
If the receiving server, domain, or mailbox name does not exist, then you will receive a bounce-back message (or possibly no message at all). If the receiving server is deferring or queuing emails (because it is too busy or broken), then it just depends on the mail system as to how long it will keep waiting. If you are the receiver, our Exim mail system will hold emails up to 7 days. If you are the sender, our gateways will hold emails for up to 2 days.

DICTIONARY ATTACK A method often used by spammers. They send various emails or passwords to a domain hoping that one will succeed. The server detects a dictionary attack when a user attempts to send email to four consecutive invalid email addresses. When this happens the server believes it is getting spammed by someone who is trying a bunch of addresses to see if any of them get through. RESOLUTION: The dictionary attack block will be removed after 1 hour if there are no more than 4 erroneous e...
If you aren't able to send this usually means one thing... your internet provider is blocking you from using anyone's outgoing mail servers but their own. Many major ISPs are blocking outgoing emails to prevent their internet connection from being used for spam. In order to work around this issue, we have opened Port 26. Please change the outgoing mail (SMTP) from the default Port 25 to Port 26. If you use Outlook, please be sure that you select the option for "Outgoing SMTP Server Requires Aut...

FormMail is a very popular method of emailing the contents of a form to a user. It is relatively easy to set up and does its job well. However, spammers have found security holes in previous versions and this allows them to send mail through whatever server the account is set up on. Since we have a very strict anti-spam policy, we cannot allow you to use your own FormMail scripts. We ask that you use the server-wide FormMail script, instead. This way, if there are any exploits found on this ver...
WHAT IS THE DEFAULT ADDRESS? It is a catchall mailbox that receives all emails written to a non-existing name @ your domain. WHY IS THIS DISABLED? We disable Default Address because if you don't know how to use it, it can cause your account to flood with email. HOW DO I ENABLE IT? Please contact PacificHost via phone or live chat and ask for your "catchall email to be enabled." ONCE ENABLED, WHAT DO I DO? Set every catchall to :FAIL: NO SUCH ADDRESS HERE. This will prevent your account f...
EXIM is a mail transfer agent used on Unix-like operating systems. It is freely available under the GNU GPL and it aims to be a general and flexible mailer with extensive facilities for checking incoming e-mail. We do not use QMAIL. MAILDIR is a widely-used format for storing e-mail that does not require application-level file locking to maintain message integrity as messages are added, moved and deleted. Each message is kept in a separate file with a unique name. All changes are made using at...
All of our shared servers have a 60 check per hour limit. If you hit this limit in any hour you'll be locked out for the rest of the hour. Solution: You will need to disable the automatic checking for new emails. If you do not want to disable it, just set it to check less often. Keep in mind the more computers you have automatically checking and/or manually checking the mail, the quicker you will hit this limit.

Email forwarders send a copy of emails and keep an original. You can setup multiple forwarders to and/or from the same account. I have found that if you send email from Gmail to an email address which forwards back to the same Gmail, then Gmail will not receive that forward. (PacificHost is the same way.) \N\NHOW CAN I STOP MY PACIFICHOST EMAIL FROM KEEPING A COPY? YOU MUST DELETE THE MAILBOX FROM EMAIL ACCOUNTS, AND ONLY KEEP THE FORWARDER. MASS EMAILING: Avoid sending to multiple addresses using the CC field; everyone will see each others email address. You can always send it by BCC, but this can be a hassle when you often have new people to email. You may want to set up a mailing list to send an email to many people; there is no way for the receivers to see each others emails, and the list automatically updates with new members. There are many mailing list scripts on the internet, but we recommend to use PhpList, located...

If you ever send mail from any site that is on the same server where your site is hosted, your external mail server will not receive the mail. The reason for this is that a server will always try to send locally before it tries what the actual DNS or MX zone points to. The way to fix this is to contact our Support Department saying "Please remove my domain ****.com from /etc/localdomains and add it to /etc/remotedomains". Only we are able to make this change for you. Once the change is done, t...
If you cannot receive mail from yourself (say, from a form, or from a subaccount), but can receive fine from everywhere else, it is usually because you are/were hosting your mail on a 3rd party server. Please open a ticket with our Support Department for further assistance in the matter.

0X800CCC65 -- This error code is indicative that a local firewall such as Zone Alarm or anti-virus software such as NOD32, Norton Antivirus, or McAfee is blocking outgoing connections to your mail server. Try disabling any of this software and see if this error still persists. 0x800CCC67 -- This error is mostly attributed to one of a few things: the ISP is blocking port 25, a local firewall or anti-virus program is blocking SMTP communication or the account in Outlook is setup incorrectly. IF A MESSAGE IS STUCK IN THE OUTBOX, please go to File and choose Work Offline. Close outlook and reopen it. Now you can delete the email. _This happens usually to emails with attachments; it may be time to install a new Outlook._ If Outlook is not downloading all of your messages, and the quota is good, then you may have other mail programs (like Blackberry) downloading the emails and thus removing the copies. IF OUTLOOK IS DOWNLOADING MULTIPLE COPIES OF YOUR MESSAGES, then most likely your ...
IMAP4 is an especially convenient method of delivery for those who use multiple computers and would like to use an email client instead of Webmail. A growing number of email users have one machine at work and a different one at home, possibly also a laptop for travel, or they use public PCs in a library or computer lab. Like POP3, mail is delivered to a central server, but the mail client (Eudora, Outlook, Netscape Messenger) does not copy it all at once and then delete it from the server. It's ...
You must replace your normal mail.domain.com with the secure server name. SHARED WEB HOSTING: Look in cPanel's left hand menu to find the name of your server. RESELLER OR UNSURE? Please contact PacificHost by phone or live chat to get the secure server name. Secure POP3 is port 995. Secure IMAP is port 993. The outgoing mail is always SMTP, whether using IMAP or POP. Secure SMTP is port 465.

When you set up a form-mail script, you might get an error message stating, "Sorry I can't send to name@domain.com [1]. Is name@domain.com [2] on this server?" Unfortunately, this is not clear on how to resolve the error. The solution is for the owner to code the script to use a local email to receive all the posts. The error should say, \"PLEASE USE AN EMAIL ADDRESS WHICH IS HOSTED ON THIS SERVER.\" Links: ------ [1] mailto:name@domain.com [2] mailto:name@domain.com

PacificHost offers you a choice in webmail programs. You can pick whichever one you are most familiar with, or the one you learn to like over time. You can switch webmail programs as much as you like, and you will still see all your emails. We use ROUNDCUBE and ATMAIL for our webmail programs. Don't forget, you can change webmail programs anytime, and you will still see the same emails.
For both incoming and outgoing mail server, put mail.yourdomain.com. The incoming port number is 110. The outgoing port number is 26. This remains true for your addon and parked domains when you are checking email for them and need to set up your account in your email client. If you know the IP address or the hostname of the server which you are on, you may use that information instead of mail.yourdomain.com (helpful if you recently changed your domain's DNS).
